The winter issue of Table Magazine highlighted three woodworkers who feature reclaimed wood in their work. To get the main shot of the men, we met at the crack of dawn and nearly froze in the woods to capture that crisp, foggy, early morning light. It was more than precarious hauling camera equipment and rusty tools down the steep, wooded slopes, but we survived, and I loved how the spread came together.

For the photoshoot, I created the painted cardboard wall and styled their wares. To tie the main image of the carpenters to the shots of their individual work, I draped Zak’s shirt over his bench, and the tool Sean was holding reappears in the shot of his work. These are the little narrative details over which I obsess.
